BOBTAIL WINDMILL - 7ft

Bobtail windmill on display at the Morawa Museum

The Bobtail Windmill Company was based at Gidgegannup in Western Australia.

The Bobtail windmill is unique in that it is of a tail-less and gearless design, quite similar in appearance to the Jolly windmill of New Zealand. It is self- governing and made of lightweight hot dipped galvanised steel that is welded to give strength and fewer wear points.

They were made in three wind-wheel sizes of 7ft, 8ft and 10ft, with towers in four sizes from 12ft to 40ft. They could be mounted on a post tower or on a more conventional three or four legged tower.
